We are a Uk based charity with a simple aim.
To advance the education of the biological children of foster carers in England and Wales through providing an online educational platform and resource portal to inform and guide such children in managing and cultivating healthy family relationships during the fostering process and providing them with the tools to understand complex trauma, transition, loss & ending fostering and related stigma.
Through the online portal, the biological children of foster families will access a series of educational videos which focus on different areas related to living in a family who fosters. The aim of these educational videos is to improve the young people’s emotional wellbeing by improving their understanding of what they may be experiencing. Initially, educational videos will be provided on the following subjects:
Psychoeducation will be the framework for educational videos, using evidence-based and child-focused information. Psychoeducation is an evidence-based therapeutic intervention commonly used for clients and their loved ones which provide awareness-building information which supports better understanding and ability to cope with emotional and psychological difficulties.
By using psychoeducation, the children and young people will be able to develop their understanding of the above topics; allowing a space for them to reflect on their own experiences, learn how to communicate their worries or difficulties to their loved ones, and learn to cope with their experiences and regulate their emotions.
The platform will provide a safe online community for the children to be open and speak freely about their emotions or concerns and focus on separation distress. Validating a child's emotions is an important part of the education we are going to provide because it encourages the growth of their self-worth and restores self-esteem.
