The Disabled Drivers’ Assessment Scheme aims to increase the mobility and independence of disabled people who live in the borough, by assessing the feasibility of driving a car or a motorised wheelchair/scooter, including consideration of any adaptations required.
Camden will fully fund the cost of the assessment, including reasonable transport costs, but will not provide financial assistance towards the cost of subsequent driving lessons or purchasing or adapting a vehicle.
The scheme offers two types of assessments and applicants can choose either the:
- driving ability assessment (Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation website)
- or the wheelchair or scooter assessment
How to join the scheme
An application form can be obtained on request from the Passenger and Accessible Transport Service. Please note that this application form cannot be downloaded from the council website.
